Tara (pronounced TAR-a) is an old Irish/Gaelic name meaning rocky hill or tower.
Raised alongside her two younger brothers in a small coastal town in New Hampshire, Tara made her professional stage debut as a teenager in a production of Les Liaisons Dangereuses at the Seacoast Repertory Theatre playing the role of Cecile. She continued to perform all along the New England coast until ultimately deciding to make the cross-country journey to Los Angeles.
With twenty years worth of critically acclaimed theatre performances on both the east and west coasts, this award-winning stage actress has brought to life, on both stage and screen, such wonderfully diverse characters ranging from naive ingenues to mentally ill psychopaths. Having been described as "the second coming of Clara Bow" for her ethereal and unconventional appearance, Tara shuns the idea of cosmetic surgery and considers herself a character actor. She loves the challenge that each unique new role brings, immersing herself completely in every project she works on.
Tara currently resides in Los Angeles where she continues to work in film, television, voiceover as well as on the stage. In her free time she reads, paints and hangs out with her cat Azriel. She lists Mike Leigh, Todd Solondz and Noah Baumbach amongst her favorite contemporary filmmakers.
